The Art IN Teaching

The Art IN Teaching

Today, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that led me to where I am now – an artist. I started doing art at the end of college and I loved it! It has been my favorite hobby ever since. I have never taken it seriously due to having starting a family and my teaching career. However, every now and then I would get commissioned requests from family and friends.

My love of art always overflowed into my teaching. During my ten years of teaching, I witnessed firsthand how exposing children to creative expression from an early age could shape their minds, foster curiosity, and ignite a love for learning. Art became my medium to teach!

Through art, I aimed to not only nurture the creative spirit, but also instill a curiosity for the world around them. Science and math seamlessly integrate into the artistic process ( which were my main subjects that I taught ), fostering a multidisciplinary approach that empowers young minds to make connections and TAKE RISKS in a safe and fun environment.

Art serves as a therapeutic outlet, allowing one to express emotions that words might fail to capture. It's a safe space where you can unleash your creativity, process feelings, and find solace. Witnessing the transformative impact of art on emotional well-being is a testament to its importance in a child's growth (TO ANYONE’S GROWTH!) Heck, I’m still growing!

In 2023, I made the decision to leave teaching and pursue my love of art. I am so glad that you are here to see where I am at this point in my journey.
